Colorado Bear Euthanized In Durango

Colorado officials stated they had euthanized a black bear in Durango on Monday because it became too habituated around people.

Wildlife officials captured the bear a few blocks from the Animas River. The bear was hanging out in a tree before being baited into a cage. A DOW spokesman said the bear had become too comfortable around people and would not be scared away from the city.

The bear had been hanging around town since April and had became extremely comfortable. It did not show any fear of humans at all and that is when the state officials got involved.
