New York Euthanizes Bear In AlbanyNew York DEC, Bear Hunting Magazine
New Yorl State wildlife officers euthanized a male black bear after it continued to return to the Albany area, even after having been relocated twice, once up to 90 miles away earlier in the month to the Catskills.
The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) stated that the bear was shot after it was found yesterday on the U of Albany campus. It had been caught May 1 in Albany and again a week later in southern Albany County. Authorities said they had no choice but to euthanize the bear before it presented a danger after coming back from multiple relocation attempts.
