Cape Cod Bear Finally Wore Out WelcomeMassachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, Bear Hunting Magazine
State wildlife officials released this morning that the black bear that spent the last few weeks wandering around Cape Cod has been relocated to central Massachusetts.
State authorities said they were able to tranquilize the bear Monday night. They believe the male bruin is around three years-old and was found to be in good health.
Local and environmental police decided the bear's presence had become a public safety concern because people were actively looking for it. Officials believe it may have been the first time a bear had been on Cape Cod. They think it swam across the Cape Cod Canal on Memorial Day weekend.
