Florida Bear Visiting Many Vacation Spots

Florida Fish & Wildlife Division, Bear Hunting Magazine

The 2.5 year-old, 270-pound Florida black bear that vacationed on Sanibel Island earlier this spring until it was caught and moved in June was visiting another tourist destination this week. The bear was relocated on June 21st to the Citrus County's Chassahowitzka Wildlife Refuge, but didn't feel like staying there.

The bear was spotted in a tree at Busch Gardens early this morning along Busch Boulevard. After being captured again, he is on his way to the Apalachicola National Forest where he will be released.

The Florida FWC believes he is continuing to stay on the move, likely looking for a mate.
