Montana Bear Finds Way Back To HelenaMontana FWP, Bear Hunting Magazine
Montana FWP authorities released information on a black bear that found its way back to Helena nearly two weeks after it was darted and relocated 60 miles away.
The 200-pound bear was originally captured on September 13th after officials received reports it was eating from a bird feeder in a Helena neighborhood. A game warden tagged the bear and released it the next day in the Big Belt Mountains.
Last week, residents again complained of a bear. Officials set traps on Thursday and caught the bear on Friday. It was found it to be the same bear from before. State officials took the animal south this time and released it in the Elkhorn mountains in hopes it does not return.
