A Florida black bear was killed after it charged at a state wildlife officer in southwest Florida.
Authorities in Fort Myers found the 250-pound male bruin on the Ave Maria University campus. It showed up in a nearby Collier County neighborhood later that same day. Witnesses saw the bear rummage through garbage, wander into garages and chased people getting into their cars.
A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer shot and killed the bear after it charged at them when trying to back away from it.
