Alaska DFG Kills Bear After Break-Ins

Alaska DFG, Bear Hunting Magazine

Alaska Fish and Game biologists killed a large brown bear implicated in a series of unusual and brazen attempted break-ins at Stuckagain Heights area homes.

The bear killed was an adult male estimated at between 700-800 pounds. This bear is believed to have attacked at least three garage doors and side doors in the Stuckagain Heights area in recent days, causing thousands of dollars of property damage.

A bear trying to break down garage doors is unusual and the behavior was puzzling because the houses hit did not have any obvious bear-luring attractants such as chickens or open garbage containers.
