Tennessee Records 400 Bears Harvested In 2012

TN Wildlife Resource Agency, Bear Hunting Magazine

Tennessee released their 2012 bear harvest data this week. Hunters harvested a nice even number of 400 black bears. This marks the eighth year in a row that hunters harvested 300 or more bears in Tennessee. The record harvest was recorded in 2011 when 581 bears were taken.

Black bears were harvested in eleven east Tennessee counties this year. Cocke County was the highest with 85 bears, unseating Sevier County for the top county harvest. Monroe County was second with 64 bears.
