Utah saw an increase in the number of bears taken in 2007. Of the 262 permits issued, 47% of them were filled with a total 123 bears being taken by hunters. This included 87 males and 36 females at an average age of 6.1 years.

This was an 16% increase from the 2006 hunters who tagged bears. 2006 found 242 permits being issued with 49 male and 27 females for a total of 76 bears, or a 31% success rate.
