Bear/Vehicle Accidents On The Rise In WIBear Hunting Magazine
Vehicles hitting bear are a growing problem in at least one northern Wisconsin county. Rusk County Sheriff David Kaminski says there have been 11 bear-vehicle collisions this year in his county, compared to only eight in 2007.
He says that likely means the population is up. They have also had a lot of complaints about bears entering the city of Ladysmith.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources released a study in June that estimates there are 26,000 bears statewide, which is twice as many compared with a previous estimate.
