Florida wildlife officials are searching for the person or persons who killed a Florida Black Bear in the Osceola National Forest in the northern part of the state.
The adult male black bear weighed about 250 pounds and had been shot. It has not been legal to hunt black bears in Florida since 1994. Killing a bear is a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500 and or up to 60 days in jail.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Wildlife Alert number: 1-888-404-3922. Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
