Officials Seek Help In Illegal Bear Killing In MONews Leader, Bear Hunting Magazine
The Missouri Department of Conservation is seeking information leading to the conviction of the person or people involved in the fatal shooting of a black bear.
The bear, an adult female weighing between 150 and 200 pounds, was found dead in a small creek in southern Webster County. The bear had been shot with an arrow and some body parts had been removed.
Black bears are a protected species in Missouri where there are approximately 300 bears in the state, most of them residing in the southern part of Missouri.
Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call the Missouri Department of Conservation's Operation Game Thief toll-free hotline at 800-392-1111.
A cash reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing the bear. Operation Game Thief hotline callers do not need to leave their name and they do not need to appear in court.
