NY Senate Passes Rifle Use in Cortland CtyNew York DEC, Bear Hunting Magazine
New York State Senators passed legislation that would allow rifles for deer and bear hunting in Cortland County, NY.
The bill adds Cortland County to the list that already includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chemung, Chenango, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Oswego, Otsego, Schoharie, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, Yates and a portion of Broome counties. The DEC feels that this has a good chance of passing the Assembly.
The New York Senate also passed a bill which lowers the minimum age for a junior archery hunting license from 14 to 12 years which makes the archery license consistent with age requirements for a junior hunting license.
