Michigan DNR, Bear Hunting Magazine

The Michigan woman, who lives in the Upper Peninsula, was alone when feeding two bears owned by neighbors as pets when she was attacked. The woman
was mauled by the 400-pound captive black bear, but she was able to temporarily incapacitated it by putting a water bucket over the bears head as it attacked. The woman was able to drive to her nearby home and was hospitalized in Wisconsin. She stated that she has fed the bears for years without a problem.

The bear then escaped but was later found and killed by a state trooper. State authorities have not release the names of the owners but have stated that they are licensed and their property is clean and well-run.
