Minnesota Bear Harvest Looking DownMinnesota DNR, Bear Hunting Magazine
The Minnesota DNR is reporting that the bear hunting harvest numbers this year may be down as much as 25%. The 2011 season will end this coming Sunday. Reports show that just over 2,000 bears have been harvested so far in contrast to last years harvest total of 2,699 bears. The number of hunters in the field for both years are fairly close.
State DNR biologists attribute the decline to an ample supply of wild food, which makes it more difficult for hunters to lure bears to their baits.
